This delicate picture is printed on glass and it's representing "La Madonna del Riposo". This painting by Roberto Ferruzzi won the Biennale of Venezia in 1897 and become the most popular representation of " La Madonna con il Bambino" during the beginning of the XX c.
In Italy this painting was commonly hung in the master bedroom, lighted up all night long. This was a symbol of protection during the sleep. In fact this piece shows two holes on the back wood where a small light bulb and a electric wire can be easily installed if you want to use it as a lamp to continue the Italian tradition.
The elegant frame is made of a "briar-root" plastic and precious brass details.
