The shade is made of a curved metal frame covered with 'Cocoon' spray-on fiberglass coating. Provides beautiful diffuse light. Takes one medium base bulb. In a good original patinated condition.Over the years, this cocoon lamp has acquired a beautiful patina due to climate and light makes this cocoon lamp a unique vintage piece. "During the postwar years a new kind of self-skinning spray-on plastic known as "Cocoon" was developed in the United States for the mothballing of naval vessels. This led to Castiglioni brother designing their series of Cocoon lights, issued by Flos." This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
