This Raoul Dufy rare vintage 1987 Expressionist lithograph print framed museum poster " Nice, The English Promenade " 1927, is a very special and unique piece to add to your collection.
The Expressionist poster print is published by The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Printed in 1987 in an unnumbered limited edition. It features an artwork image originally created by Dufy in 1927 titled " Nice, The English Promenade ", ( Nice, Promenade Des Anglais ), copyright 1987 The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Raoul Dufy ( 1877 - 1953 ) was a French Expressionist painter associated with The Fauvist Movement. He gained wide recognition for his vibrant decorative style, which became popular in various forms including textile designs, and public buildings mural decorations. He is most recognized for his work emphasizing bright colors and bold contours depicting contemporary scenes of elegant social gatherings, French Riviera landscapes, and interior still life compositions.
In addition to painting, he was prolific in various other fields, including drawing, printmaking, book illustrations, scenic design, furniture design, and public spaces planning. In 1952 he was awarded the Grand Prix at The Venice Biennial. The artworks of Dufy are included in the collections of many of the world's most prestigious museums.
The rare out of print lithograph print framed museum poster measures 32 3/4" w X 30 3/4" h X 1 3/8" D. It is custom framed with UV protective plexiglass in a Contemporary Modern brushed brass matte finish gold tone metal frame molding, with an attached hanging wire on the reverse back side for easy wall installation.
It is in excellent " like new " condition. The poster print is in excellent " like new " clean vintage condition consistent with age, light signs of handling, and very light minor wear.
