What? A donkey with an attitude??? Whether you grew up on a farm (that had donkeys) or your partner has similar “donkey” traits, or you’ve watched Shrek suffer through his donkey’s antics—you know that they have a LOT of personality!!!
Albert Schoenhut came to America, in the 1870’s, to repair toy pianos that had been made in Germany, but then shipped to the United States.
While he was in America, Barnum and Bailey and Ringling Brothers Circus were favorite family past times that Mr. Schoenhut thought that he might be able to capitalize on, by making a jointed clown, donkey and a chair. As his Humpty Dumpty Circus gained popularity, he added elephants, horses, clowns and a ballerina—the children loved being able to pose their toys—and adults, too! ; )
So add a bit of whimsy to one of your displays or give as a gift to a “playful” and “well-humored” friend—this donkey is sure to produce a giggle. less
