This marble group is an allegory of spring, heralded by the presence of swallows. The sculpture is signed Mathurin Moreau. Circa: 1900 Son and pupil of Jean-Baptiste Moreau, Mathurin Moreau won the second Prix de Rome in 1842 and exhibited at the 1848 Salon, where he won numerous awards. His work is abundant, with a predilection for feminine grace, figures and genre scenes, as well as allegories. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
