Scheherazade 3 tier - Silk Chandelier Pendant Lamp - Ivory color - Style: Opera*
*Opera Style is no longer made by the apprentice shop of Fortuny. This makes this light rare/antique/vintage and as such is priced on its rarity. Stamped in gold leaf, Latin graphic lettering, the name FORTVNY encircles the outer rings. In Latin, the letter "U" is the letter "V".
Light fixture takes 5 bulbs with a maximum wattage of 250W total.
Strings can be untied and tied to adjust to your ceiling height/needs.
Adorned with a Venetia Studium metal jewel, with murano glass bead and ivory silk tassel.
The elegant 3-tier structure has the form of an upside-down pagoda and is suspended by a delicate net of cords decorated with Murano glass beads.
Fortuny was born in Grenada, Spain and as such the Moorish influences followed with him to Italy. From the Alhambra to the Venetian connection to the Ottoman Empire and Syrian glass-makers, Fortuny extended and exemplified the connection of the East and West in artistic trade. He is known for his lighting of the La Fenice the Venetian Opera house that photographers today still use lighting in the style of Fortuny (umbrella shade, light reflected off a mirror in the center) and his luxurious use of gold and other precious leafs threading it in fabrics. This is a beloved piece and statement maker in any place it goes. Owned for 10 years. less
