Purchased in the Countryside of England where it had resided for many years. These were considered "trophy furnishings of rich merchant and aristocrats in Italian Culture, from the late Middle Ages onward." Always given to the bride from her parents to contain the personal effects of the bride. This is a fabulous example of an Italian Cassone! In beautiful condition as we found it.
