Mexican Miners at Work by Frederic Remington. Certified as an original Remington wood engraving. The original was printed at Harper's Weekly in 1889. This one is a numbered limited edition (77/1950) pulled in 1975. It bears the seal of authentication from The Amon Carter Museum of Western Art.
"With writer Thomas Janvier, Remington visited Zacatecas, Mexico, for an article on silver mining there. Drawing from life, he depicted the gaunt, abject nobility of the Indian miners - toiling under grueling, primitive conditions hardly better than their ancestors knew in the same mines 400 years earlier." See certificate of authentication on reverse of frame.
Measurements of the frame: H: 21 1/2", W:17 1/4. There are some scratches on the frame. less
