Drawing on the Art Nouveau period of the early 1900s blown out flowers and leaves decorate the handle and parts of the tine. A reaction to the academic art of the 19th century, it was inspired by natural forms and structures, particularly the curved lines of plants and flowers. Notice the tips and the design in the slots; the detail on this pattern is exquisite. There’s even a cartouche (area for a monogram) on the handle. less
