Simply beautiful hand carved solid mature satin smooth rosewood plant stand/pedestal from the mid 20th Century - hand crafted in great city of Shanghai. Ornate and shaped circular turned tops with a pierced and decorated apron supported on slender carved cabriole legs held in place by an ornate floor level base stretcher. Interesting features of the lower leg area - see 6th photo.
Fantastic Chinoiserie pedestals or stands for ornaments, vases, busts or ferns.
*Older mature rosewood of this quality is getting harder and harder to find nowadays.
These pedestals are based on an earlier Qing design and retail at close to $3000 a pair - see last photograph.
Bought from an old Chinese traders estate where these items had been stored for decades.
Display top measures Dia 10.5". **Please note that one of the small bosses on one side of one leg is missing. It is hard to see, barely noticeable.
Very dark brown in colour. A eautiful piece and will not dissapoint upon arrival.
