For once, it’s actually okay to be two-faced! Jokes aside for its age, this fireplace screen is actually in pretty remarkable condition. There are a couple of small tears along between 2 or 3 creases. You really have to be inspecting it to even notice. I’d like to say the material is paper, but I am almost certain that it must have some sort of textile in it as well, possibly silk?

The colors are fantastic and bright on both sides. When fanning the screen out, you don’t have to do any work whatsoever to get it to unfold or to stand on its own. While photographing the item there was an off and on breeze, the fan didn’t even tip over. So you don’t have to worry about it being blown over if you walk past it.

There is a brass medallion where the fan is gathered at the base holding it together. The brass shows a fair degree of wear. I usually polish brass items but due to the surrounding material I will leave that to the buyer. As it is now, the brass medallion looks perfectly fine as is. less
