Mid century lithograph print by Hoi Ledabang. Shows an abstract pair of horses in an orange and yellow landscape. Pencil signed Hoi (lower right) and numbered 165/375 (lower left). Certificate of Authentication attached to back of frame - Societie de Verification de la Nouvelle Gravure Internationale / The Collector's Guild Ltd. Plain wood frame; white and orange-red layered mat.
"Le Ba Dang (aka Hoi Lebadang - b.1921/1922-d.2015) was born in Quang Tri, Vietnam in 1922. He moved to France in 1939 to pursue an art career at Ecole de Beaus Arts de Toulouse. While studying there he was awarded prizes for painting, drawing, and sculpture and won his first commission. By 1950 the Paris art community had recognized Lebadang's work, appreciating the blend of European and Far Eastern culture and philosophies reflected in it. The director of the Far Eastern Department at UNESCO commissioned him to illustrate a book of poetry, published by Editions Euros. Lebadang was first represented in the United States, in 1966, with an exhibition of his paintings at the Cincinnati Art Museum. In describing his art today critics remark that it incorporates everyday subjects into dream-like expressions of thought. Lebadang, an accomplished printmaker, favors the techniques of etching, lithograph, and serigraph. He also has done lithographs using the name Hoi. Lebadang's work is exhibited in Dusseldorf, Paris, Nantes, Cologne, Cannes and Aix en Provence galleries. His work is owned in permanent private and public collections including: Rockefeller Collection, New York; Loo Collection in Tokyo; Verkerke Collection, Holland; Phoenix Art Museum, USA; Cincinnati Museum, USA; Columbia Art Institute, USA; Lund University Museum, Sweden; Foundation Museum, Kenya; and the Museum of Arts and Letters, France. Orders where Free Local Pickup or Seller Managed Local Delivery were selected:
- Upon inspection, If you decide not to move forward with the purchase, you or your agent must refuse the item at the time of pickup/delivery from the seller
- Once you have taken possession of the item, all sales are final
- International, cross-border returns may require different processes depending on the countries between which the item is shipping to/from, and the buyer is responsible and duties (if applicable, on cross-border orders).
- On approved returns, the buyer is responsible for the full cost of return packing and shipping.
Cancellations
- Prior to shipping or local pickup, buyers may cancel an order for any reason, with the exception of some Made-to-Order items, where supplies have been purchased or work begun on the item.
- Please notify us within 24 hours of purchase if you would like to cancel an order, as prompt cancellation will reduce the likelihood that you will incur return shipping charges.
