Singed by the artist. Edo era style. Gouache and ink on gold paper. Silk border. Lacquered black wood frame with engraved copper corners showing age patina. Paper on back. This screen was purchased from Kobayashi & Co by an U.S. Air Force officer stationed Misawa AFB 77-80, in Japan in the 1970s. He and his family left Japan for the United States in 1980, and for about 45-50 year this piece was at their house. Original receipt, regretfully not dated, is included. Japan, Shōwa era, post-1940s. Excellent condition - minimal age wear overall, two patches on back, clean, sturdy.
