A studio pottery weed pot vase by the American artist Blanche Vanis (1933-2021). This diminutive pot features a speckled brown glaze with dark brown streaks. The pot is signed "B. Vanis" to the underside.
Born in Cleveland, Vanis graduated in 1954 from the Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania with a liberal arts degree. Most well known as a jewelry designer and silvermsith, she taught at the Cleveland Institute of Art as well as making custom jewelry at the jewelry studio Potter & Mellon.
