Origin italy period 1940s author angelo abrate born april 21, 1900 in turin and died september 10, 1985 in sallanches (haute-savoie, france), was a painter best known for his mountain scenes. Of piedmontese descent, he spent part of his childhood in marseille after his parents emigrated there in 1908. He returned to turin at the age of 16 and initially worked in a metal workshop to support his family. His passion for the mountains led him to take up mountaineering, achieving several firsts in major climbs. At the age of 27, after the success of his first exhibitions, he decided to devote himself completely to painting.
