A Set Of Four Austrian Sterling Silver Knife Rests, With Traditional Cast Jack-Style Ends, Circa Mid 19Th Century.
The long, tapered center struts are supported by four point jacks at either end. Each strut shows an engraved monogram of PKR..
Rather than balance a knife on the edge of a plate, these rests were placed to the right of each place setting to keep the blade from soiling the table linens.
