An art glass vase by American glass artist Donald Carlson. Signed verso, this vessel embodies a classic vase shape and is deep bronze in color. The piece has an iridescence to it giving it a purple-green sheen, most notable to the bottom of the work. Blue lines go across the surface, with pink hearts at the top of the work.
During the 1960s, Carlson took an art class while studying for his MBA and MS and discovered glassmaking. Wanting to delve deeper into this particular form of art-making, Carlson built a studio in his backyard and taught himself to blow glass. Currently, Carlson's work focuses on creating bright and whimsical glass fruit sculptures and vases.
