*Carlton Ware Pottery, established in 1890 by James Frederick Wiltshaw and partners in Stoke-on-Trent, England, made its mark on the domestic pottery scene. Initially focusing on tableware with floral patterns and traditional designs, they truly flourished in the 1920s and 30s. Carlton Ware is particularly sought after for its Art Deco pieces. These works embraced new production methods, featuring bold geometric shapes, stylized birds and dragons, and even Egyptian-inspired motifs influenced by Tutankhamun's tomb discovery. Their whimsical "novelty wares" and tableware featuring realistic leaves and fruits are also popular among collectors.
