This piece is in the Grand Tour style, most prevalent in the 17th-19th centuries. The style takes its name from the traditional trip through Europe undertaken by upper-class young European men of sufficient means and rank, typically around the 21st birthday. Despite taking much of its inspiration from Italy, the style also borrows from French, German, Belgian, and Swiss movements.
