Set of beautiful and rare ’Sphere’ lounge chairs in very good condition. Designed by Boris Tabacoff in 1971 Manufactured by the French MMM. factory (Mobilier Modular Moderne) These chairs have a characteristic brown acrylic shell which holds a thick comfortable cushion. The cushion is reupholstered in a high quality wool ‘Milma’ Fabric by the Belgian manufacturer Design of the Time. The fabric has a sheepskin look and feel. The acrylic glass shell is held by a heavy circular base made of chromed metal. Boris Tabacoff is a Bulgarian designer who is one of the artists of the Post-War School of Paris (1945-2000). He was the very first designer from the Ecole de Paris after the war to create furniture and objects in acrylic glass. Creator of the first Cardin acrylic glass furniture. He benefits from the Glorious Thirties in France and his workshop creates and manufactures Design de Cardin. It is very present in the art magazines of the 60s and 70s thanks to Cardin using acrylic ass for the edition of bathtubs, chairs, tables, and the famous Cardin clocks, as well as all kinds of prestigious desks in acrylic glass. Tabacoff creates prototypes that he has published by many publishers during Les Trente Glorieuses as well as those of Cardin. The publishers market certain prototypes in limited edition editions of 50 copies, such as The Cube Armchair, These MMM “Spheres", Table, chairs, armchairs. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity
