Rare and very large festival/tent banner, 432 x 61 cm (170 x 24 inches). with a repeat pattern of parrots and flowers hand embroidered in vibrant, candy coloured silks. Gujurat, circa 1950.
The pennants, created from recycled sari's, have been carefully colour matched, utilising a limited and very soft palette that compliments the embroidered top panel superbly. Overall, a really well considered and highly decorative example.
Condition is excellent, clean and bright. All the original hanging loops are present. There are losses to the embroidery throughout the length. less
