The box measures 6 … Read more This is a lovely, finely painted Russian Papier Mache Lacquer box with a fairy tale scene. The box measures 6 1/2 inches wide, 4 inches deep and 1 1/2 inches high. There is a piece of paper inside the box which states that it was made in 1972 in Mstera or Mstyora in Vladimir Oblast and the subject is "Song About a Merchant" which might be; The Song of the Merchant Kalashnikov story and the bottom is signed USSR.
