Crafted by the master ceramist Carl-Harry Stålhane, this exquisite rare bowl boasts an organic form, featuring a majestic high foot. The bowl's delightful blue-brown-yellow glaze, exhibiting a smooth yet subtly glossy texture, enhances its overall aesthetic.
Created in the 1950s at the Rörstrand factory, the bowl is signed CHS. Notably, this is a second assortment, likely due to a slightly darker glaze on some areas inside the bowl.
The item is in excellent vintage condition.
Carl-Harry Stalhane (1920 – 1990) was a celebrated Swedish ceramic artist, prominent in the Scandimodern movement and recognized as an iconic shaper of stoneware. He first trained as a painter in Stockholm and as a sculptor in Paris before joining Rörstrand in 1939. He was soon promoted to be artistic director and chief designer. In addition to his studio art pieces, he designed functional dinnerware. He left Rörstrand in 1973 to set up his own studio, Designhuset, in Lidköping. His work at Rörstrand, known for its simplicity and elegance, continues to shape the world of ceramics and design. Stålhane’s work can be found at the Nationalmuseum in Stockholm, the Industrial Arts museum in Stockholm and the Museum of Modern Art in New York amongst other places. less
