A pole medallion of three latch-hook diamonds on a blue field with kilim-style minor devices loosely scattered about is surrounded … Read more A pole medallion of three latch-hook diamonds on a blue field with kilim-style minor devices loosely scattered about is surrounded by five patterned borders,of which the ivory "S" and bar stripe is the most prominent.The ribby back together with the main border design indicate that a Daghestan origin in the northeast Caucasus is likely.Unlike most Caucasian rugs,the secondary accent tones are light or pastel,and the colour range is quite broad.The pile is lowish,but even,commensurate to the age of the piece,and the design is bold and direct.This Caucasian rug is cleaned professionally.
