This Mid Century Lamp is gorgeous! The rich walnut body with brass accents and a rocket footed tripod is the most elegant manifestation of pure space-age imagery!
This is a very well-executed design that is both eye-catching and dignified. It looks like a million dollars on a desk, table or credenza. It exudes the type of quality largely unobtainable today from furnishings.
These minimalist lamps were the mid century response to tired, heavy designs that spoke of the past. This lamp made no such appeal to any past period and was all about the future! Light in appearance, the tripod base conveys the vision of a rocket about to blast off. In the fifties, rocket imagery was making a statement in all sorts of furnishings. Creating a light and weightless appearance was the designers goal and alongside the hairpin leg, the tripod was a favorite design element to achieve this goal!
This beautiful lamp is in Very Fine Vintage Condition! Single socket design. A marvelous linen shade crowns this jewel from the past!
