1950s Mid Century Modern
Articulating Gooseneck Desk/Table Lamp
Fiberglass Shade
Color: RED
This is an incredible surviving 1950s, red fiberglass shade, articulating lamp! It is beautiful and the quality of build is unlike anything made since the 1970s and earlier. Tank like metal construction that last for decades and decades! These usually only were discarded after someone used too hot a bulb in the fiberglass shade and either cause burn marks and discoloration. Metal shade goosenecks are far more common because they didn't face this bulb heat & discoloration problem as acutely.
This lamp adjusts into almost any position you can imagine! It bends in every direction to illuminate a desk or table surface or it can illuminate a work of art on a wall! The versatility of these lamps is off the charts! These lamps made a big appearance in modern homes in the late forties as an example of post-war "good modern design." Lamps like this won awards for designers like Kurt Versen and others.
Now this rare treasure can be yours! These lamps are actually FUN to use. How long has it been since you owned a fun lamp or furnishing? That is one of the hallmarks of great vintage lighting - it actually merges practicality with fun! Interior designers love these lamps and their clients are always surprised at how such a small detail can bring more enjoyment to a living space!
A marvelous acquisition for your NY penthouse, Palm Springs atomic modern or West Palm Beach estate! less
