Meigh exhibited at the Great Exhibition and in 1886 won a medal. When researching Meigh Pottery, I could not find any platters of this scale, for it must have been made for the holidays, for it surely will hold a Turkey or any size roast. This particular very large platter come from the private collection of an English antique dealer who was from the town of Leek. There are no prior repairs visible. C MEIGH & SON C M & S 1851-1861.
