The brothers of Louis XVI of France, came into power and introduced a conservative fashion. Louis XVI of the House of Bourbon, was executed during the French Revolution (1789–1799). In reference to furniture and decor, this meant the creating a gentler version of the Empire style. This specific antique French commode, entered our Old Plank workshops, with the idea of conservation, rather that restoring. Although this is far more laborious in nature, then end results are often more rewarding. The finish was only freshened, although the structural integrity of the commode was properly attended to. Great look and a beautiful patina. Age: 1814-1830 See less
