He was particularly skilled in working with wood, and many of his designs feature elegant, organic shapes.
The Daybed GE-258 in teak, designed by Hans J. Wegner for Getama Denmark in 1954, showcases Wegner's signature blend of craftsmanship, functionality, and elegant simplicity. This convertible daybed/sofa, created in 1965, features a teak frame and a woven cane backrest. When opened, the backrest reveals a hidden space for blankets, pillows, etc., while exposing a larger sleeping area in excellent condition for its vintage age.
