Description: Louis André Mourgues was born in La Crau in the Var in 1886. He came to settle in Sainte-Maxime as … more Louis André Mourgues was born in La Crau in the Var in 1886. He came to settle in Sainte-Maxime as a painter of letters but his passion for oil painting and watercolor pushed him to realize his ambitions. He left us numerous paintings from Sainte-Maxime, Saint-Tropez, including many seascapes. On February 20, 1929, he received the Academic Palms of Fine Arts. He participated in numerous exhibitions in the South of France. A few decades later one of his paintings was selected to decorate the liner France. He died in Sainte-Maxime in 1962.
