Stylishly sculptured body, intricately shaped as an Islamic Ibrik. Exquisitely decorated with hand painted enamels with floral motifs in unusually combined colors with gilt outlines
Modeled and twisted applied handle
Fanciful and slightly whimsical creation, based on Hungarian Historismus decorative motifs with incorporated Orientalist/Ottoman designs, characteristic of Fisher's production
Exceptional artistry and workmanship
Stamped underside Patent / Fisher J / Budapest 658
Fischer J. Budapest was founded by Ignace Fischer, in Pest, Hungary, in 1864. (Pest is the eastern half of the modern Hungarian capital Budapest which was united with the western half, Buda, in 1873). His pieces bear the mark “Fischer J.” with the “J” being the same letter as “I” in Hungarian. Ignace was succeeded by his son Emil around 1885. The factory eventually experienced financial difficulties under Emil's leadership and it was bought by Zsolnay Pottery in 1895.
The presented here ewer is most likely a work of Emil Fisher
