The cast bronze body of compressed globular form, raised on … more A 12th Century Islamic bronze oil lamp, Eastern Persia, Khurasan.
The cast bronze body of compressed globular form, raised on a trumpet shaped foot, the hinged cover with a sculpted bird finial and there is a corresponding finial to the loop handle. The lamp having twin spots to receive two wicks and therefore two lights, the top of the lamp decorated with a band of calligraphy, the base with engraved decoration. There is oxidization to the surface consistent with age and having being buried at some stage. Condition is very good and totally intact
