The desk is finely inlaid on all sides, therefore the desk can 'float' in the middle of a room. The top having a pierced ormolu gallery, below are two drawers and two cupboard doors, with marquetry inlay of Chinese vessels to the drawers and wine glasses and decanters to the doors. The top sides of the desk are inlaid with quill pens, inkwells, and letters (the marquetry letters with inlaid writing in French). The very top (looking down) and the writing surface is finely inlaid with Chinese porcelain vessels, Floral arrangements and books and quill pens. To the front is a single locking drawer with a band of ormolu with circular devices which are repeated on the sides. The desk is raised on cabriole legs mounted with very finely cast ormolu ram's heads to all four legs, the legs terminating to corresponding ormolu sabots.
