Rare life-size icon of St Anastasia (Anactacia,) who died at Sirmium in the Roman province of Pannonia Secunda (modern Serbia) in 25 A.D. She is venerated as St. Anastasia the Pharmakolytria, i.e. "Deliverer from Potions", and considered a healer.

Michael R. Meola was an extraordinary Byzantine Iconographer/artist that had created beautiful icons in over twenty-six Churches. He was a member of the St. John of Damascus Society of Iconographers.. St Anastasia is one of his last icons to be painted by Michael and is signed in Cyrillic in the lower right corner.

Measuring 35 1/2" x 71 1/4", the icon is painted in gold-leaf on canvas surrounded by a brick red arched border. Anastasia is adorned in lilac robes standing on a spearmint tone floor. less
