Delicate goldscheider art déco ceramic figurine of 1930s: gracefully posing dancer in blue costume standing next to an octagonal pedestal: dotted bustier and short front skirt with long, wide side panels slit at the back with blue and yellow floral decoration, holding them up backwards to both sides like a butterfly with her arms outstretched and her upper body turned to the right. On a black, slightly curved flat base. Designed by stephan dakon (1904 - 1992), was one of the most important designers who worked for the goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties. This model 7996 was created circa 1935. Made around 1939 manufactory: goldscheider vienna / austria material & technique: hand-crafted ceramics, white earthenware, hand-painted, glossy finish dimensions: height: 37,5 cm / 14.76 in width: 28,0 cm / 11.02 in depth: 20,0 cm / 7.87 in marks: model number 7195 / 1940 / 19 goldscheider vienna manufactory stamp made in germany (wwii) painter's and former's signs existing bibliography: dechant / goldscheider, goldscheider: firmengeschichte und werkverzeichnis / history of the company and catalogue of works, stuttgart (germany), 2007, page 451, number 7195f condition: very good this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
