His technique of enameling glass to make raised designs on a think glass vessel is employed fabulously on this vase to form the bird and bamboo plants. These pieces of relief glass vary in thicknesses to make certain areas lighter or darker and give depth to the pattern. Galle was famous for his botanical designs and his love of Asian art which he used as inspiration for some of his work.
