1850s French Red Rose Hand-Colored Print, Matted

Illustrated and Colored by Madame Annica Bricogne. The print is entitled "Rose Jules Margottin".

The print bears the mark and address "Imp, Houiste, 5 Rue Mignon, Paris". The print is a single page removed from the original book and is enclosed in a vintage matte. The matte is hand lined with single gold, blue/gold and red lines and bears the mark "Ingress Fabriano".

Her work is also included in the Book, "Horticulteurs & Amateurs de Jardinage", Paris, 1874; E. Donnaud, Libraire-Editeur. She also painted most of the plates for the first years (ca.1851) of the Magazine, "L 'Horticulteur Francais".

Her original watercolors are rare.
