The leaf presented here is about average in size. It is from an early 16th century antiphonal hand written in Latin on vellum. Antiphonals were books containing the sung portions of the Divine Office and were shared by a choir. Lyrics and music are hand scribed in black ink with red rubrics. Recto painted in red contains a large elaborate "A”.
This piece is most likely a page from a larger volume and is on handmade vellum. This Gregorian antiphonal chant musical manuscript page may date to the 16th century. less
