Monumental mid century modern / space age flush mount designed by the reknown japanese lighting designer motoko ishii in 1970s. Motoko ishii lived and worked in finland and germany 1965-1967. Her most prominent designs were produced while she was working for the west german lighting company staff. In 1968. She returned to japan and established ishii motoko design office while continuing collaboration with various lighting companies. The flush mount shown in this post was manufactured staff and it was custom made for a luxurious spa hotel in belgrade, opened in early 1982. Hotel ordered three monumental flush mounts to grace the high ceilings of their lounge and the bar. The high quality chrome plated steel fixtures were handmade. Their surface is polished and is highly reflective almost to the point of a mirror reflection, as seen in the pictures. The flush mount features diamond shaped shades, that are known as the artistic signature of motoko ishii and can be seen in many of her works. There are 24 diamond shaped opaline glass shades, attached to construction which cascades in three levels, creating a reverse pyramid. Only three flush mounts in this size and shape were ever made. Origin: west germany period: late 1970s condition: very good vintage condition, with some signs of time and use. Dimensions width: 120cm // 4 feet depth: 120cm // 4 feet length: 80cm // 2 feet 8 inches this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
