The very special feature that I have never seen before in an inkwell stand of this size is a pull out drawer with a decorative brass knob. Gold gilt design is incorporated on all four sides and as a double frame around the top.

Attributed to the firm of A. Jennens and J. Bettridge who operated between 1815–1864, "who were highly regarded for producing quality papier-mâché wares and acquired the workshops of Henry Clay, Japanner to George III and the Prince of Wales, in 1816. Their original premises were in Birmingham and they started a London branch at 3 West Halkin Street, Belgravia in 1837. Later offices were established in Paris and New York." less
