This painting is titled “Erdeitaj” and it is by Francz Eller. This can be seen on a placard on the lower frame. “Erdeitaj” means “forest” in Hungarian.


We believe that this painting comes from a region on the Austrian/Hungarian border. It was painted during the 19th century.


The painting is very well done with detailed imagery of deer in a dense forest. The sun can be setting amongst the background of the trees


The painting is in overall good condition for its age. There are some signs of normal wear and age however. The frame has evidence of repair. The painting also has several small areas of paint loss. Luckily, they blend in with the foliage.


The frame measures 19 x 16 inches


The painting itself measures about 14 x 11 inches less
