In 1815 John Doulton invested his life savings, £100, in a small London pottery establishment. His son Henry joined his father in 1835 and in 1887 he became the first potter in history to be awarded the knighthood. This beautiful Ewer (pitcher) was made just two years later.
The 26970 registration number on the base dates this precisely to 1889. Two years later in 1901 King Edward Vll awarded the Burslem factory the Royal Warrant which it retains to this day. Great addition to your Doulton /Royal Doulton Collection.
