An authentic antique French champagne oak riddling rack dating to the early Victorian period, which can accommodate 120 bottles of champagne—60 on each side. These racks are used in the stage of champagne making known as riddling. After aging, the bottles are put in riddling racks and rotated 1/8 or 1/4 turn at a time to move the fermented yeast from the sides into the neck of the bottles so it can be removed through the process of disgorging.
