A light green, blue, and yellow intaglio print with oil and watercolor hand-coloring entitled "Starry Night" by Canadian artist Walter Sorge (1931-2021). Various blue, yellow, and green encapsulated spheres are randomly floating within a light green and lime atmospheric landscape. The print is signed "Sorge" and titled to the lower right corner.
Born in Alberta, Canada, Walter Felix Sorge attended UCLA and received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from there during the 1950s. He continued his education at Columbia University in New York where he received his Doctorate in Fine Art and Fine Art Education. Sorge also studied under Stanley William Hayter in Paris and worked at Atelier 17. He later had an extensive career as an art educator and served as head of the art department at Kentucky Southern College in Louisville, the head of the art department at Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Texas, as well as chairman of the art department at Eastern Illinois University. Sorge exhibited widely during his lifetime in the United States and abroad.
