Beautiful polychrome painted wood hand carving features a man on horseback. It probably represents a famous Chinese figure known as NEZHA. In Chinese folklore and mythology, Nezha is a powerful deity who defeated mighty serpents. He is the protective patron of young adults. The rare polychrome miniature carving from the Qing Dynasty is original and without restoration. Right hand and spear are missing. Wear is consistent with age.
