This does seem to allow minor movement on the frame when you move it side to side. The chair is solid and feels sound but one could reinforce with modern hardware for added support. In my opinion, it is not necessary and would impede on the purity and aesthetic of the item. But if you are looking to have a heavy traffic chair, it might be worth keeping in mind. The ivory fabric is aged and has color variations due to this and the mix of threads used. All nailheads accounted for and present. There does appear to be a stain on the underside webbing as visible in the photo. The wood is in beautiful shape, but there is splitting visible on one the chairs side bottom cross brace. I honestly never noticed this until I did the finally fine-tooth look over for this write up. This is an antique piece so there will be wear and signs of age which give it character. I do my very best to capture these in the photos. Please review all photos extensively for condition. less

Statement chair. Or shall we say throne? This Jacobean style bobbin-turned oak is giving off a royal Aire. I believe this piece is French, by stylistically easily brings a Spanish mission flair.
The joinery on this item points to a mid to late 1800s origin. Not a screw or nail in sight, but these beautiful mortise-and-tenon peg joinery. You can view this in a couple of the detail shots. The chair is solid, but there does seem to be give in the frame when you shift it side to side because of this joinery. It could be reinforced with modern hardware but in my opinion is not necessary and would impede on the purity and aesthetic of the item.
Gorgeous rich wood tone paired with textured Ivory fabric for a classic and complimentary palette for an array of decors. less
