It has no key, has been converted to Quartz and the clock does not work when a battery (AA) is inserted. Aesthetically this clock shows signs of age and wear as most great vintage items do. It has scratches and nicks in parts, most of which will buff out with a suitable wax or polish if you prefer that look. A part of the decorative metal trim/wire on the left hand side has broken (see pic). This "blemish" is not immediately noticeable and may glue back into place. The eagle is loose / turns when it is touched but otherwise stays in place. Somebody has scratched into the back wood in small letters what appears to read: "R 10:51 1+45 M". Not sure what this means? Examine all the pictures closely. Zoom in & out to get a good sense of its exact condition: a picture tells a thousand words. This is a beautiful "banjo" wall clock manufactured by the New Haven Clock Company in the 1930s. It has a wonderful brass eagle finial on its top! Originally this was a mechanical clock. The label on the back reads: "Winsome Strike, 8 Day Pendulum, The New haven Clock Co., New Haven Conn. U.S.A.". It has however subsequently been converted into a quartz clock. However, upon testing (inserting a battery) this clock does not work. So consider it NOT WORKING. I'm sure though this is an easy fix for someone who knows how, or perhaps a labor of love for someone looking for a restoration project; and just as it is, it makes a lovely decorative piece for someone looking for that retro look to complete a room.
It measures: 26 3/4" tall x 8 3/8" wide x 3 7/8" inches depth. Its clock face is 5 5/8" in diameter.
The clock weighs 4lb 7oz.
