Le Bambole sofa designed by Mario Bellini for B&B Italia in 1972. This iconic sofa retains its original checkered velvet upholstery. Stamped ‘B&B Italia’ under base. Sourced in Italy, 1970s.
Mario Bellini (1935–) is an internationally renowned Italian architect + designer. He graduated from the Polytechnic University of Milan in 1959 and has received accolades in a variety of design fields, including the Compasso d’Oro award eight times and the Gold Medal for Lifetime Achievement by the Triennale di Milano. Bellini has designed numerous famous buildings around the world, from museums to banks, galleries + convention centers. His works range from industrial design to furniture design. Bellini collaborated with a number of companies including B&B Italia, Cassina + Heller Furniture; the New York MoMA has 25 of his works in their permanent collection.
