Dorothy Thorpe was an influential American glassware designer and entrepreneur, best known for her iconic silver band glassware designs. Her breakthrough came with the creation of the distinctive "Roly Poly" glasses, featuring the wide silver band around the rim, which became wildly popular in the mid-20th century. Her creations adorned the tables of Hollywood stars and were featured in prestigious establishments across the country. Thorpe was first and foremost a pattern designer who would source “blanks” from American glassware manufacturers, onto which she would apply her famed designs.
