Acquired from a collector's estate in England. This charming stirrup cup is in the form of an eagle's head, hand painted with beautiful details. The rim of the cup is silver plated and the lip is brass. The main body of the cup is fine bone china. As part of an English tradition, a stirrup cup is a "parting cup" given to riding companions while in the stirrups, usually with Port or Sherry, before embarking on a foxhunt. It's perfect for the collector and would also make a wonderful gift for the equestrian or hunting enthusiast. less
